Contrechamps | Speckled-Toshe is an ongoing publishing series developed jointly by Ensemble Contrechamps and Speckled-Toshe.

The series brings contemporary composition into the format of the artist record. Recordings may originate in concerts, commissions or other activities of Contrechamps, but each release is developed as a publication in its own right. Sound, artwork, graphic design, texts and other printed material are brought together according to the particular requirements of each project.

Composers, performers, artists, writers and designers contribute to the editions in different constellations. There is no fixed format: the musical work and the circumstances in which it was created determine how each recording is presented and what other material becomes part of the publication.

Although closely connected to the artistic programme of Contrechamps, the series is not conceived as an archive or comprehensive documentation of the ensemble’s activities. It is a selective publishing project in which individual works and collaborations are given a form specific to the record and its accompanying material.
